MDF Board or Particle Board - Which is Better For Your Interiors?

Wood has long been a popular choice for interior designers. Its enduring popularity is evidenced by its presence in many of our country's heritage sites, which continue to influence Indian and global interior trends. In 2021, wood was predicted to be the trending material of the year. Many people go to great lengths to improve the interior of their homes with wood, but they rarely pay attention to the wood material they use or which qualities they should look for. As a result, although their homes may look good initially, they only maintain their appearance for a short time.

This is why Choosing the right wood material for the interior and furniture is essential. Many different materials are available on the market today. However, the most popular options are MDF board and particle board. Both materials have their own advantages and disadvantages, which should be considered before deciding. With the help of the right wood material, your home can look like something out of an interior design magazine - without the hefty price tag.

WHAT IS MDF

MDF board  is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibers. MDF panels are generally denser than plywood. It comprises separated fibers, but unlike particle boards, it is not held together with adhesives. MDF sheet material is mainly used for decorative purposes, furniture, cabinetry, and even speaker boxes due to its smooth finish, machinability, strength, and consistency.

WHAT IS PARTICLE BOARD

LDF or particle board are typically made from wood chips and particles that are bonded with a synthetic resin adhesive under heat and pressure (glue). The resulting board has a higher percentage of resin content and less wood content than conventional plywood, which qualifies LDF boards as low-density products.
