Places To Visit in Agartala

Agartala is the well-known capital of the state of Tripura. It is also the state's largest city. Agartala is important in both history and mythology because it is mentioned in the Mahabharata scriptures and because the kings who ruled there were very ambitious. Agartala was called a princely state when it was ruled by the British. This beautiful city is on the banks of the Howrah River. It has a subtropical climate and rains almost every day of the year. During the summer, it gets very hot and humid, so the best time to go would be from November to early March, when the winter is short. The people of Tripura hold a number of festivals throughout the year, which are fun for tourists to see. There are many temples and churches all over the city, but there are only one or two mosques. There are also a few places where you can find monasteries. You can get to Agartala by air, by road, or by train. Let's look at some of the places you can go to in Tripura.

State Museum/ Ujjayanta Palace

When this city was a princely state, the royal family lived in the Ujjayanta Palace. The Palace is on the edge of a small lake, surrounded by lush greenery and large Mughal gardens. Around the palace, there are a number of temples to Hindu gods and goddesses. It is the largest museum in the Northeastern part of India. It is also called the State Museum. The name "Ujjayanta Palace" came from Rabindranath Tagore. The palace has a library, a Darbar, a Throne room, and a reception hall. It is almost a km2 in size. There is a room called the Chinese Room that draws a lot of tourists because it is full of intricate artwork made by Chinese artists. The museum is full of things that show the culture, history, art, and traditions of Northeast India.

Unakoti Hill

The Unakoti hill is a must-see spot for tourists in Tripura. It has beautiful stone carvings of Lord Shiva. On the hill, there are many different rocks with intricate carvings. The area is full of trees, shrubs, and waterfalls that make it look very green. The head of Lord Shiva, also called the Unakoteswara Kal Bhairava, which is 30 feet tall, is the most noticeable thing about this hill. The Ashokashtami Mela is a festival that is held every year in the month of April. It is attended by a lot of people who are interested in religion. The Archeological Survey of India is now in charge of taking care of the rock carvings and stone designs.

The Sipahijola Wildlife Sanctuary

The Sipahijola Wildlife Sanctuary is about 25 km from the centre of Agartala. It has a man-made lake, botanical gardens, and zoological gardens. It is known for the Clouded Leopard area, and it is home to many different birds, animals, and plants. The famous crab-eating mongoose is one of the many plants, animals, and birds that live there. The best time to go is in the winter, when you can see a lot of birds and animals. You can stay in the Absarika forest bungalow. It has a few cabins that people can stay in for the night.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is north of Raj Bhavan in Agartala. It is a rare sight to see. Starting with the huge gate, the park shows off the ancient, tribal, and cultural history of Tripura. Since it opened in 2012, the park has become a popular place for tourists to visit because it is full of trees, flowers, and other natural things that smell great. It is known for using the Effective Microorganism technology to help make up for the lack of organic manure. The park is a place of peace and quiet for people who want to relax.

Jampui Hills

The Jampui hills are one of the most popular places for tourists to visit in Tripura. Around these hills, there are about ten villages that love the beautiful scenery. The road between Dharmanagar and Kailashahar will take you to the Jampui hills. Most people know these hills for the orange plantation that began there in the 1960s. Commercially, the Jampui hills are known as the best place to plant and grow orange trees. A lot of locals and tourists came to see this. The Orange Festival is held every year in the hills, where the clouds provide a calm atmosphere. But because of some diseases, this festival doesn't happen as often as it used to. Still, the Jampui Hills are a beautiful place to go.
