Indian dishes are too many and one must try the delicious ones because they are a treat to the taste buds. It does not matter if one is not from India because Indian restaurants have become quite popular all over the world. One can keep coming across Indian restaurants in every country and so Indian dishes are available quite easily.

If one wants to taste some authentic Indian non vegetarian starters then going to a renowned Indian restaurant always makes sense. Only they can offer unique starters that are very much Indian.


What to try


Afghani chicken tikka

This is not only succulent but creamy and aromatic. Chicken tikka is considered to be one of the most authentic Indian starters and most people love eating them. Here, small and medium chunks of chicken pieces are marinated in a mixture of fresh cream, hung curd, lemon juice, ginger paste and pepper powder. Then these chunks are char-grilled on a skewer they are cooked completely with full flavour.


Chicken popcorn

If one wants something light and crispy as a starter then they can also order this dish from the menu. They are easy to pop in the mouth as snacks when one is out with friends and having fun. Here, bite-sized boneless chicken chunks are taken and are dipped in a spicy batter. Then they are re-coated with flour to get an extra crunch. They are fried till they turn crispy golden and one can enjoy them with some tangy sauce.


Chicken kathi roll

When it comes to unique Indian starters – this can top the list. One can get the burst of flavor in every bite. This is treated as a street food in India but in abroad they are mostly available in restaurants. This one is stomach filling because roasted kebabs are delicately wrapped here in a flaky paratha. One can also add coriander chutney and spiced onion slices in it to make it more mouth-watering.


Mutton sukha

If one loves meat then this starter is definitely for them. This is a dry meat dish that is prepared with marinated chunks of mutton. The recipe comes from Maharashtrian local mutton dishes where the meat is marinated with dry coconut paste and then they are cooked with Indian spices till they become tender. One can pair them with a slice of bread as well.


Fish cakes

When it comes to non vegetarian dishes, it is not only about chicken or meat. Fish also takes a huge part of it. Fish cakes bring a kind of umami flavour in the starter menu of any Indian restaurant. One can use basa-fish to make this. First, one has to boil the fish and then mix it with spices, potatoes and bread crumbs to make a dough and then shallow fry them.


Shami kabab 

They are delicious as starters. They melt in the mouth as they are made of traditional spices and delicate mutton pieces. It is made following the Mughlai recipe.

One can try any of them and some more as Indian starters.
