We recently had the opportunity to work with the medical device specialist enVVeno Medical. Located at 70 Doppler, the company holds the famous VenoValve® patent. When the client invited our shop to their location, they needed eye-catching halo-lit LED channel letters in Irvine, CA.

Before and After Pictures Show the Facade Transformation

Initially, the facade of the office building looked attractive but blank. It could be challenging to locate the firm if it had not been for the street number featured on the side and top of the structure. It was clear that the client needed expert building signage to serve as wayfinding, advertising, and brand-building products.

Halo-Lit LED Channel Letters and a Front and Backlit Logo Make Sense for the Location and Brand

The client chose a building sign that would illuminate after dark. They had the choice between front and backlit products. In this situation, the selection was for the halo-lit presentation. In simplest terms, a backlit channel letter allows the light to escape from the back, where it bathes each style element in a soft glow.

The alternatives are front-lit letters that allow lighting to escape through the fronts, which boldens the color palette. That said, it is essential to note that the logo portion combines halo lighting and front illumination. By default, it creates a stunning color presentation at night.

Overcoming Location Challenges

There was more to handling this project than merely designing and fabricating the product. For starters, the building lacked electrical hookups or any type of wiring near the desired installation location. Our specialists located a state-qualified electrician to run the wiring to the site that we needed it to be.

Next, all work had to be done on the roof behind the sign for the hookups. Technicians then had to bring in an articulated boom lift to mount the letters to the front of the facade. It enabled the team to install the letters at the proper distance from the wall’s surface while also having the electrical wiring hooked up.

What Makes Backlit Letters So Popular?

A backlit sign brings a sophisticated look and feel to a facade’s surface. What makes these signs so popular?

  • They get attention. Because this construction emphasizes the letter’s silhouette rather than the colors, making it stand out against a darkened building front. In this way, the letter makeup heightens the three-dimensional impression of the product.
  • Elegant look. Since the focus is on illumination rather than colors, the sign has an elegant look. The flow of the lines is pronounced, which also drives home the point of the branding.
  • Opportunity to augment. What we mean by this is that you do not have to limit yourself to a strict backlit LED construction. This client opted to have the logo portion show off its colors with a front-lit construction but also fit in with the back-lit setup of the lettering.
