A cream charger, also known as a whipped cream charger or nitrous oxide charger, is a small, cylindrical cartridge typically made of metal. It is designed to be used with a whipped cream dispenser to create whipped cream or other foams.
The cream charger contains nitrous oxide (N2O), which is a colorless and odorless gas. Nitrous oxide is a commonly used propellant and whipping agent in food preparation. It is compressed and stored in the cream charger under high pressure.
To use a cream charger, you typically follow these steps:
Fill the whipped cream dispenser: Open the dispenser by unscrewing the top and pouring the desired amount of liquid whipping cream into the container. Be sure not to overfill it to allow room for the gas.
Insert the cream charger: Take a cream charger and place it into the charger holder or holder cap, which is usually located on the dispenser. Ensure it is securely in place.
Screw on the charger: Twist the cream charger clockwise to screw it onto the dispenser. The charger's tip will puncture the cartridge, allowing the nitrous oxide to flow into the dispenser.
Shake the dispenser: Once the charger is attached, shake the dispenser vigorously for a few seconds. This helps to mix the nitrous oxide with the cream and distribute it evenly.
Dispense the whipped cream: Hold the whipped cream dispenser with the nozzle pointing down and press the lever or trigger to release the whipped cream. The nitrous oxide acts as a propellant, expanding and aerating the cream, creating a light and fluffy texture.
It's important to note that cream chargers should be used strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions. It's also crucial to dispose of the spent cartridges properly and recycle them if possible.
While cream chargers are primarily used for culinary applications, it's worth mentioning that the inhalation of nitrous oxide for recreational purposes is dangerous and illegal in many jurisdictions. Misuse of cream chargers can have serious health risks, and it's essential to use them responsibly and in accordance with their intended purpose.

But for a large number of commercial uses, it will inevitably be some inconvenient, after the use of the small steel cylinder has to dispose of the used, which is a headache for users.
Until 2019, the Smartwhip brand came along and Smartwhip launched a 580g cream charger.
Smartwhip also comes with a fitting adapter that attaches to a cream dispenser and a filling hose, which are mounted to the pressure regulator.
When in use, pick up the hose with one end of the dispenser, remove the charger base from the cream dispenser, connect the dispenser connector to the air inlet of the dispenser with whipped cream, and turn on the gas flow switch.
Finally, according to the demand, turn the pressure regulator and fill the nitrous oxide into the distributor (Note: after the nitrous oxide filling is completed, the flow switch must be closed, and then remove the adapter of the adapter, install the charger seat and then shake the cream distributor.
