In the north-eastern part of Maharashtra, the Vidarbha region is located comprising of 11 districts - Akola, Wardha, Washim, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Amravati, Buldhana, Nagpur, Bhandara and Gondia. Chandrapura - The Chandrapura district got its name after travelling through several identities as mentioned in Folklores -Chanda, Lokapura, Indpur, and present-day Chandrapura. Chandrapura has undergone the reign of Hindu, Buddhist, Gond and British empires.
