Practice Safe Driving & Avoid Distracting Driving

As an Ontario driver, it's important to know and be familiar with the laws that apply to you when you are driving on the road. The laws have outlined what is legal and illegal when it comes to distracted driving and it's important to know and follow these outlines. If you are unfamiliar with what the laws are, it's in your best interest to read through Ontario's Highway Traffic Act. If you are looking to read a brief outline, read through what our team at Nexcar Auto Sales & Leasing has covered here.

When driving, devices in a car such as a mobile device, TV, computer, etc., should not be available to the driver. In addition, no driver should be holding a device that is capable of mail, telephone communications, or text messaging. Any device must be out of sight to the driver as social media and texting are not permitted. In addition, having maps open is allowed, but typing in an address is not permitted. It's in one's best interest to pull the vehicle over, place it in park, and set the directions. If an electronic device is causing distraction, it would be considered distracted driving.
