Method of Installing Space Frame by Pole Lifting

The installation of large and medium-sized seamless steel pipe space frames with ball joints is commonly done using the pole lifting method at this stage. With this method, the space frame is assembled on the ground during construction, and then lifted to the top of the column using multiple single-leg lifting poles. The space frame is then moved and installed in the air. Next, SAFS Steel Structure Engineering will explain in detail for you.

(1) Basic Principle of Aerial Displacement

Aerial displacement is important in this method. It uses the uneven horizontal force in the lifting pulley group on both sides of each lifting pole to move the space frame horizontally. When the space frame is moved in mid-air, at least two lifting poles are required to hold the space frame, and the lifting pulley group on the same side does not move. Therefore, the space frame only translates without tilting during aerial displacement. Because the pulley group on the same side does not move, the space frame can also perform uniform circular motion in addition to translation, causing a slight drop in the space frame. The direction of the space frame's aerial displacement is related to the arrangement of the lifting poles.

(2) Selection and Arrangement of Lifting Equipment

The selection and arrangement of lifting equipment is a key issue on the construction site of the space frame lifting pole. The content includes: selection of lifting poles and arrangement of lifting points, arrangement of wind ropes and ground anchors, matching of lifting pulley groups and lifting point lifting tools, arrangement of cranes, etc. The selection of lifting poles depends on the load they bear and the arrangement of lifting points. The calculated load during the installation of the space frame is:

Q=(K1Q1+Q2+Q3)·K(kN)

Where Q1 is the self-weight of the space frame (kN);

K1 is the load index 1.1 (if the net weight of the space frame is accurately calculated, it can be 1.0);

Q2 is the self-weight of additional equipment (including trusses, ventilation ducts, steel pipe scaffolding, etc.) (kN);

Q3 is the self-weight of the lifting tool (kN);

K is the uneven bearing force coefficient caused by the lifting difference. If the net weight of the space frame is basically uniform and the lifting difference at each point is controlled within 251080x, this index is assigned a value of 1.30.

(3) Control of the Centerline

The position of the space frame assembly support should be accurately measured according to the centerline of the installed column head to eliminate the accumulation of centerline differences during column head installation.

(4) Pole Dismantling

After the space frame is lifted, the lifting pole is enclosed in the space frame, and it is most suitable to be dismantled by reverse dismantling. This method is to hang two sets of lifting pulley groups at the chain connection point on the space frame to hold the lifting pole, and then gradually dismantle the lifting pole one section at a time from the bottom.
