This effort from the Apple is the result of that developer keep pushing the free app in App store and MacOS and are trying to be different from similar free apps. This tactic is used by the developer to make their app more popular to capture maximum users attention.

Apple has noticed this and warned the developers to avoid adding the price in metadata but now the company have gone for further action.

Now if a developer tries to push the application in APP store with metadata including the price this message will pop up.

Your app’s name, icons, screenshots, or previews to be displayed on the App Store include references to your app’s price, which is not considered a part of these metadata items.
