So, what makes employee experience the No.1 concern in bettering customer service?

Well, employees, especially the front-line staff, serve not just as a medium of engagement between the product and the customers but also represent your brand and the philosophy behind your brand – how your employees treat customers is a fair reflection of how you treat them.

With that being said, what can brands do to fix the employee experience?

1. Collect Feedback Constantly

Don’t forget to survey the internal customer! Sometimes their ideas and feedback can make the biggest difference.” Shep Hyken, Customer Service Expert and Best Selling Author.

Improve the Employee Experience by listening to your ‘Internal Customers’.

There’s no better way to keep your employees in the game, motivated and inspired round the clock, than by encouraging them to give their honest feedback on how they feel they’re being treated. Asking for honest feedback not only creates a culture of complete transparency within the organization, but it gives employees the room to innovate and bring a fresh perspective, that of the customers’ onto the decision table, since your employees interact with them all the time.

2. Care for your employees

Are your employees able to balance their work life and family life? Or are the working hours burning them out? It so happens that in many workplaces, employees spend more time in the office than with their loved ones. Therefore, the responsibility to take care of employees – attending to their needs and keeping their motivation levels from up – falls solely on the employers’ shoulders.

A meaningful employer-employee relationship is crucial to retain your best employees in the long run. Virgin takes care of its employees in fine fashion. Those who become new parents are given one full year of paid leave!

If you take care of your employees, they will take care of your business.” Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin. Now that’s something to make people want to work FOR you!

3. Create a dazzling work environment

Companies have found designing the ideal work environment that entices employees to come to work, one of the hardest things while improving the employee experience. After all, as employees spend the majority of their time in office it’s quintessential that you take their comfort into the equation, when designing the office layout. While it’s a completely understood that not every company can recreate a Facebook-like or Google-like environment, the point is to design an environment that your employees look forward to working in every single day, where they are happy enjoying the work that they do, despite all the pressure and the added challenges that come with it.

Jazz up the ambience a notch! Play some good music and induct some form of recreation every day. Doing so, there is every chance that your workplace becomes more pull than push.

Ultimately, it will be your workforce’s duty to deal with customers, their troubles, worries, complaints on a day to day basis. That being said, duty becomes responsibility when your employees sense that you care for them and treat them with love and respect. Always keep in mind that employees are your most valuable asset. Keep them happy and they’ll not only give their best at work but also proudly safeguard the name of your brand.
