This application also has a paragraph symbol, and it signifies where we are in the paragraph and might be helpful in some of the situations but sometimes seems annoying. While typing a document, sometimes we face various issues such as paragraph symbols, and it distracts our mind, and if it gets repeatedly appearing, we get frustrated.  The same appears while printing a document as this symbol scattered throughout the document and restricts a clear document image to print. In this case, we should remove or turn off this feature.
Pursue these guidelines to turn Off the paragraph Symbol tab located in the toolbar:
Using Hide/Show paragraph Symbol Tab
  • In the beginning, go to the primary toolbar or home tab.
  • After that, search for the show or hide formatting symbol option. This symbol always resembles a mark for the beginning and the finishing of the particular paragraph.
  • Hit the Formatting Marks tab for removing such symbols.
  • In case you wish to make it appear, you have to tap on it once more.
Using Options
  • Firstly, hit the File tab and then choose the option “Options.”
  • After that, press the Display button there. Display option searches for the section marked symbol and show them on your display.
  • Now, you will notice a checkmark box appears having paragraph marks.
  • After that, you have to unmark the available box that is related to the paragraph symbols.
Note: You may unmark any of your desired formatting symbols through this method. It can be applied for hidden text, spaces, anchors, etc.
  • Next, hit the OK tab there.
  • You are all done. Now the paragraph symbol will disappear from all your further documents.
Turning Off the paragraph Symbol in Mac Devices
  • In the beginning, hit the Preferences tab situated in the Word menu.
  • Then, hit the option “View.”
  • Now, you will be able to view various non-printing symbols and marks. You can select your desired option to display or hide from your document.
  • Once you have completed all these steps, then hit the OK tab there.
Toggling Between hiding and Displaying Formatting marks
One can toggle between hiding and displaying formatting symbols in these mentioned ways:
  • Go to the Paragraph group panel of your Windows and the hit the paragraph symbol situated in the Home button there.
  • If you are using Mac OS X, then the paragraph symbol will be found at the standard toolbar. Tap the option to toggle between these two options.
  • Note: These paragraph symbols can be very useful if you are typing a particular document. It will assist you if you want to remove page breaks from your document, and you wish to know where the markup is located.
