Different Lamp Styles to Adorn your Interiors

Lamps are not just meant to be used as light sources, they are way beyond that. Lamps increase the aesthetic appeal of your space and there are many different styles to choose from. As each one has its own pros and cons, you can select the style that meets your requirements.

Lamps can also be used to match have different themes. You can adorn your interiors with the one that goes well with the theme of your space. For example, a mermaid lamp would be great for those who have sea-themed interiors. In fact, a mermaid lamp made from shells would look classy regardless of which lamp style you use.

Here are some of the most sought-after lamp styles:

1) Buffet Lamps

As its name suggests, this one is meant to be placed at a buffet table. The main purpose is to direct light towards the food. This slender lamp occupies very little space and can be placed on a dining table, study table or office desk. However, this lamp cannot be used to light up the house and is not to be considered as the main light source.

2) Arc Lamps

Arc lamps are arc-shaped and are the best to be placed in corners as they have a slender body. They occupy very little space and serve as a decorative piece. You can get arc lamps in both traditional and modern designs. The minus point is that it not sturdy and can be knocked over easily. It is hence better to place it where it is less likely to fall down.

3) Tripod Lamps

Tripod lamps have a base of 2 legs and it not only illuminates the room but also gives a stylish look to the interiors. The sturdy lamp can be placed in the living room or bedroom for lighting. The drawback is that they need a lot of space which can be difficult in case you have a small-sized apartment.

4) Swing Arm Lamps

Swing arm lamps have an adjustable arm that can be moved around as per the need. It is available in different sizes for the floor, desk or table. The main con with this lamp style is that you can use it to illuminate a small area and not the whole room.

5) Torchiere Floor Lamps

This kind of a lamp has a tall body and an upward facing shade to illuminate the whole room. This is a rather commonly found lamp style and light up the room on its own really well. However, these are not too sturdy and can fall over easily. You need to keep naughty children and pets away from it.

6) Piano Lamps

A piano lamp is meant to direct light at on the keys of the piano or keyboard but in such a manner that the pianist doesn’t get blinded by the glare. These lamps are usually slender and have a horizontal bulb. There are swing arms as well to allow the pianist to adjust the lighting. A piano lamp can also be used for your work desk but it won’t be able to light up the whole room.

7) Boom Arm Lamps

These lamps resemble the microphone stands used for recording. The boom arm lamp is straight with a swinging arm that can be adjusted horizontally and vertically. Though it is versatile, it is not very sturdy. It can topple over easily and that is why you must go in for a one that has a heavier base.

8) Gooseneck Lamps

These are available in 2 different designs. One comes with a flexible neck that can be adjusted as per the need and the other has a fixed metal neck with a curve. This lamp style is best-suited for desks and side tables so that can read books in bed without disturbing others. However, if you are looking for something to illuminate the whole room, this is not for you.

9) Tree lamps

A tree lamp has a straight stand in the centre with many light branches pointing to different directions. The branches are most often adjustable and you can turn on the branch that you need. This way you can use one branch to light up one small spot or illuminate a larger space by switching on all the branches. The only problem is that it occupies a lot of space.
