Business Connections with the Right Phone Number

Despite e-mail, messenger & Co., face-to-face conversations over the phone are still the preferred means of communication. There is a lot to be said for it because in the business area, in particular, topics can be quickly agreed upon, questions clarified, offers negotiated, or details of individual projects researched. This is where the personal conversation scores because the medium is faster, more direct, and more personal. E-mail and messenger have the problem that individual written sentences are sometimes misunderstood - this can also happen during a phone call. Still, here you can immediately counteract or clarify based on the reaction.

But how present is the Business phone number today, and what is the relationship between landline and mobile phone? The numbers speak for themselves here. It will all be cleared to you when you talk with evoice competitors or other companies. Let us see.

Business phone call statistics and facts

Constant stressful situations harm our health.

On average, each of us currently calls around 60 hours a year. Even if the smartphone is ubiquitous today, most phone calls are made over the fixed network. If you look at the change from 2011 to today, then the call minutes have decreased by a good 3%. In concrete terms, this amounts to around 178 billion call minutes over the fixed network per year, and the trend is still falling. In return, cell phone calls have increased by about 2.5%, which is around 110 billion call minutes per year.

If we look at all the numbers in context, we see that the total number of all business phone minutes has decreased by about 1%. Interestingly, the number of landline connections barely decreased in 2012. The change here is a decrease from 38 to 37.7 million participants. There is also a change in cell phone contracts, as the number of cell phone contracts fell from around 114 to 113 million in the same year. However, all these figures do not consider the fact that more and more users are using their DSL and cable TV networks for IP telephony. But the trend towards cell phones or smartphones is more than evident because around 87% of all Germans aged 14 and over have at least one cell phone or smartphone.

Telephoning at work brings with it three main challenges:

  • The background noise
  • Interruptions
  • The frequency

In concrete terms, this means that telephoning in the office or a business environment is sometimes an extraordinary challenge. Primarily when you work with several people in the same office, the constant ringing, usually with different ring tones, is a stressful factor. The ringing of the doorbell and the subsequent phone calls create a background noise in which it is often difficult to concentrate. What's more, it is often tricky to adjust sufficiently to the respective interlocutor.

Conclusion

That brings us straight to the second topic, which is a distraction. Business phones ringing constantly tear us out of the routine. It is almost impossible to ignore the phone that would bother everyone else too. So we answer it whether we want to or not. The ringing telephone has priority and cannot be delayed. The problem here is, of course, that this constant availability means that we give up our sovereignty on our own time or at least severely limit it.
