8 Subspecies in Monster Hunter: World

Have nothing to do on a weekend? Well, you should probably play Monster Hunter: World. It is an action role-playing game wherein you need to trap and slay monstrous creatures. You also need to loot powerful weapons to protect yourself from critical damages.

With numerous monsters in this game, you need to be well equipped and brave enough to face them all. Aside from the popular Elder Dragons of the series, most subspecies are also deadly.

The subspecies of every Monster Hunter series are basically the alternate form of a monster. They are described as the population of monsters that can change over time. You need to keep an eye out because they are more aggressive and dangerous.

Here are the subspecies you need to watch out for:

Brute Tigrex

These are Flying Wyverns and a subspecies of Tigrex. They are known for having a darker and muted colour palette. A Brute Tigrex is much more difficult to defeat because it has a more robust set of lungs and a powerful set of forelimbs that can easily trample you down. They are usually found in harsh environments such as Deserts and Volcanoes.

Nightshade Paolumu

It is a subspecies of Paolumu with a body covered in soft fur that is usually black or dark purple. However, you can still easily spot a Nightshade Paolumu because its face is pale white while its neck has two brightly coloured patches that look similar to the patterns on the tail feathers of a peacock.

Ruby Basarios

These are Flying Wyverns and a subspecies of Basarios. They are popularly known for glistening pink crystals protruding from all over their back. However, its body is covered in moss which makes it more difficult to hunt down. Its shell is highly resistant to damage and can launch crystals by shaking its body back and forth.

Pink Rathian

These are Flying Wyverns and a subspecies of Rathian. Pink Rathians have a more heavily armoured body. With this, it has a better and higher attack power. They can also create an explosion by launching a huge fireball.

Azure Rathalos

These are Flying Wyverns and a subspecies of Rathalos. Azure Rathalos are known for their speed and strength but will rarely challenge monsters larger than them. They also have stronger wings and can stay longer in the air.

Jade Barroth

These are Brute Wyverns and a subspecies of Barroth. Also known as Ice Crushing Wyverns, they can cover themself in snow to protect themselves from the Hunters. Jade Barroths are docile and temperamental creatures that will only attack if provoked.

Tidal Najarala

Tidal Najaralas are Snake Wyverns and a subspecies of Najarala. Keep an eye out because they can spit water globules or attack using shreddable scales. They are usually found in the Frozen  Seaway.

Coral Pukei-Pukei

These are subspecies of Pukei-Pukei that are bright orange but can turn into red when enraged. It also has a high concentration of water in its tail and can attack using water. Corral Pukei-Pukeis are also more aggressive and can defeat a Hunter in a snap.

There is no doubt that you will meet other subspecies as you play this Monster Hunter series. What are you waiting for? Equip yourself with powerful weapons and defeat them all!
