What are featured Snippets & how to optimize for Featured Snippets?

Featured Snippets:

Short snippets of text that display at the top of Google's search results or at the zero position in order to swiftly answer a searcher's query are known as Featured Snippets. The content that appears inside a Featured Snippet is taken automatically from Google's index of websites. Definitions, tables, lists, videos, and Bullet lists are all types of Featured Snippets.

We can also say that,

Featured snippets are informational items that appear at the top of Google's search results. They deliver relevant content from top-ranking pages to answer the search query.
Adding queries to your headlines and sub-headlines isn't the only way to optimise for featured snippets. That is far from the case.

What Are the Benefits of Featured Snippets for SEO?

In 2014, Google introduced featured snippets, which I believe is one of the most significant SERP developments in the last decade. For both users and SEOs, there were a number of changes brought about by featured snippets.

  1. Featured Snippets provide a way to obtain more clicks from organic search results without having to pay for higher Google ranks.

Because it displays above the No. 1 in search engines, many SEO experts who are using SEO tips and tricks refer to the Featured Snippet box as "ZERO position."

If you can get your content into the Featured Snippet, you can significantly increase your organic click-through rate (CTR).

  1. Featured Snippets boost the number of queries that don't need a click. In other words, it occurs when a Google user does not select any of the search results. This is because the Featured Snippet frequently provides the information that someone is seeking.

What are some types of featured snippets?

For search queries where you wish to own the featured snippet, it's critical to understand the type of featured snippet Google displays. When it comes to optimising for featured snippets, it's important to know what types of snippets are available. The most common forms of Featured Snippets that appear in Google's search results include the following.

  1. Paragraph/Definition/Description: It might be a text-only box or a box with both text and a picture inside.
  2. A list of numbers: This is a list of items in a particular order. For searches that require a series of steps, Google prefers Ordered Lists.
  3. A list of bullet points: This is how Google presents a list of items that don't have to be in any specific order.
  4. Table Featured Snippets: When Google scrapes data from a page and shows it as a table.
  5. Video Featured Snippets: This is Google's technique of showing you a video, generally from YouTube, that is relevant to the keyword/term you're looking for.
