Be Sure Your Child Never Skip Breakfast

Time and again we have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for all especially for children. Several types of research show that a wholesome breakfast does a lot to improve children’s behavior at school, and poor eating patterns can hamper adolescent growth and development. A good quality breakfast provides kids energy that they need for the day, and the nutrients they need to grow and develop.

Not only the physical growth, a study recently found that skipping breakfast may hurt children’s academic performance. It can lead to lower grades in academics for children. A preschool teacher thinks that nutrition plays a more important role in our life than we think. Especially when it comes to kids, they are very picky about what they eat, and when they eat. This can lead to low nutrition levels, which can affect their physical and mental development and growth.

A caregiver in a preschool in Eagle Rock, CA says that every day they handle various children and they are handling them for years. According to them, they have evidence that eating a healthy breakfast is associated with the health and cognitive performance of school-aged children. Higher quality breakfasts are associated with greater academic outcomes. According to these teachers children who come to school after doing a healthy breakfast remain more attentive in class.

According to a nutritionist in Eagle Rock, CA eating a healthy breakfast has a long-term effect on a child. It not only improves health but also has a positive impact on the brain. It will be harder for kids to achieve good performance if they skip breakfast. Common good quality breakfast that consists of milk, fortified cereals, bread, and eggs are good sources of nutrients that affect brain function. Research has found that eating a breakfast with a variety of food groups that increase the intake of vitamins and minerals at the start of the day can lead to better mental health in adolescents.

According to a dietician in the US, preschool breakfast skipping is common among kids in America. The main reason for it is poor time management and lack of appetite. But it is also linked to parental influence. Whether a parent does or does not eat breakfast affects whether their children will because children follow their parents a lot. To set up an example parents have to eat breakfast first to influence their children.

It has been found that skipping breakfast results in more calories intake as it leads children to snack. Whenever they feel hungry they are likely to have some snacks. Most of the time these snacks are heavy-calorie junk food. Popular snacks like chips, chocolates, cakes, etc. are all energy-dense food and linked to the development of childhood overweight and obesity. In Most of the readymade snacks that are bought in the market three ingredients are present in high amounts – fat, sugar, and salt. These three elements in high amounts are strong enough to damage a body and to hamper the natural growth of the mental as well as the physical condition of a child. Snacking –dependency lead children to childhood obesity, type-2 diabetes, and low IQ.

Many children in the US who do not eat breakfast tend to rely more heavily on snacks that do not provide adequate nutrition to them. The fall out of poor eating habits early in life could lead to worse adult nutrition and potentiality, obesity together with its associated health risks. Due to the importance of a good breakfast and the association with mental alertness among children breakfast clubs are becoming increasingly normal in primary school.
