Questions regarding the financial contributions put forth by Lord Neil Benjamin Gibson to assist Haung in his election to his position, as well as YouTube videos put out by Gibson's organizations about the support of Huang have been called into question specifically to stir up controversy and to infer impropriety on Huang's part, even though there has been no evidence whatsoever of improper actions on any part. Channel 5 Belize has fabricated a story with a complete lack of evidence and runs with the momentum that it has created. The allegations of improper actions have now reached Prime Minister Dean Barrow as Channel 5 recently attempted to imply that there were wrongdoings in a recent interview, during which Barrow informed the press that he had no knowledge of contributions, support, or any improper dealings. Channel 5 Belize utilized one of the oldest media tricks in the book to sensationalize the story by asking a prominent person if they had knowledge of something, which immediately infers guilt and causes the person to answer in a defensive manner, separating themselves from something that they are unsure about. Through the process of separation from the situation itself, that figure seemingly acknowledges the guilt of the others.
Channel 5 Belize employed this same trick multiple times in their coverage of the ongoing story. Initially asking Huang himself to explain his relationship with Lord Neil Benjamin Gibson, where Huang's answers provided no clues of improper actions on his or Gibson's part. The answers were straightforward and to the point, Gibson did contribute to his elections campaign, Gibson did support his nomination and provided videos on his YouTube channels showing support and providing reasons why Huang was a good choice for this position.
Channel 5 Belize has managed to create speculation on the relationship of Huang and Gibson as somehow being less than transparent through the citing of a single online article claiming Lord Neil Gibson to be a "fraud," and yet with-held the source of this article as their own website, and added that there was no evidence shown in any capacity to support this claim. It is true that several projects have been undertaken in Belize involving organizations that are controlled by Lord Neil Benjamin Gibson, and that those projects are not yet complete, as they are still in planning and development phases. All projects involving Belize are plainly discussed on Gibson's websites and are completely transparent in their information. Gibson himself supports and explains the developmental stages of these projects through video commentary that is placed on his YouTube channels and his websites. In the scheme of things, lord Neil Benjamin Gibson and the companies he controls have been more forthright with news regarding Belizean projects than was ever necessary, going as far as to release information about them while they were still only in the speculation phase. The criticism that can come from developmental stage information took a rear seat to the desire for full transparency on Gibson's part. Channel 5 Belize utilized this transparency as a means to cast doubts into the motivations of Gibson and his companies, and have now also cast doubt as to the election of Ralph Huang just because of support of the campaign.
Governmental fraud is a serious issue, but generally, the accusations of fraud actually come from news sources that have uncovered some sort of fraudulent activity. The accusations of fraud are generally reserved for those who have actually shown some sort of favoritism or position that is questionable. Huang is literally being accused of fraud previous to ever taking his elected position. Gibson is being accused of fraud because the projects that he has outlined on his websites have not come to full fruition, even though no claims have been made that they are any further along than planning stages and meetings. The only truly questionable actions that have taken place to date have been on the part of Channel 5 Belize itself, and why they as a news organization have so aggressively attacked Lord Neil Gibson and Ralph Huang. Reasonable and intelligent people would potentially question their motivations due to their obvious support of the losing candidate. The true question to be asked in a situation like this one is "what was promised to Channel 5 Belize by the opposing candidate, and why is Ralph Huang such a threat to them?"
The world continues to watch as the events play out on the global stage, and those interested in Belizean politics are watching to see if Channel 5 Belize continues to attempt to drum up fear of a politician who has only just been elected, or a businessman who has attempted to provide development to underserved areas in Belize.
