Skype is all about making phone calls and eliminating the need to type and send instant messages. They will display in your contact list if you have added them and they have accepted your request. If you wish to make a phone call (without video) on your Skype desktop client, simply click on their name, and the IM window will appear in the main section of the screen, where you can communicate with your friend.

You may see your friend’s details, avatar, what time it is where he is (important if you have friends from different countries or continents), and other information at the upper portion of this window. You’ll also see the green “Call” button in this section.

Skype allows you to call friends in two ways: over the Internet, which is free but requires your friend to have a Skype account and be online, or directly on their cell phone. However, the latter technique necessitates your friend’s phone information and credit purchases on your account.

Simply click or tap on the person you want to call in the Skype app for Windows 10, Windows 8, and the option to call them will appear on the left side of the screen. You can also share files, videos, messages or establish a group in addition to this option.

How to Use Skype to Make Video Calls on Windows 10, Windows 8, and Windows 7

Even while Skype is an excellent instant messaging and voice-calling client, its most well-known function is the video call option. This function has become synonymous with the Skype brand, and many users exclusively use it.

To create a video call on Skype, do the same thing you did before when making a voice call, except instead of clicking or tapping on the voice call button, click or touch on the “Video Call” button. The two buttons are located side by side in the Skype Windows 8, Windows 10 software, but their icons are different: for video calling, you have a camera icon, while for audio calls, you have a phone icon.
