Exam pattern:

  1. Preliminary Exam: The preliminary exam is a objective type exam consisting of two papers - General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II (CSAT).
  • General Studies Paper I: It covers topics like Indian polity and governance, current events, economic and social development, and environmental ecology.
  • General Studies Paper II (CSAT): It covers topics like comprehension, interpersonal skills, decision making, problem-solving, and numerical ability.
  1. Main Exam: The main exam is a subjective type exam consisting of nine papers.
  • Two qualifying papers: Indian language and English language.
  • Seven papers in General Studies, Essay, and Optional Subject.

Eligibility:

  1. Nationality: Indian citizen or a subject of Bhutan/Nepal.
  2. Age limit: 21 to 32 years on 1st August of the year in which they are appearing for the exam.
  3. Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university.
