Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be Indian citizens

Exam Pattern:

  1. Preliminary Examination:
  • Two papers of 200 marks each, objective type (MCQ)

  • Both papers are conducted on the same day
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers
  1. Main Examination:
  • Written examination with nine papers, conventional essay type questions
  • The papers include:
  • a. One Indian language (300 marks)
  • b. English language (300 marks)
  • c. Essay paper (250 marks)
  • d. Four General Studies papers (250 marks each)
  • e. Two Optional Papers (250 marks each)
  1. Personality Test (Interview):
  • The final stage of the exam
  • Conducted by a panel of experts to assess the candidate's personality, knowledge, and suitability for the job
  • Candidates are evaluated on various parameters, including communication skills, leadership, integrity, analytical ability, etc.

Marking Scheme:

  • Preliminary Examination: Total 400 marks (200 marks for each paper)
  • Main Examination: Total 1750 marks (Paper I to VII 250 marks each, Paper VIII and IX 250 marks each)
  • Interview: 275 marks

Selection Process:

  • Candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination qualify for the Main Examination
  • Candidates who clear the Main Examination are shortlisted for the Interview round
  • Final selection is based on the candidate's performance in the Main Examination and Interview round
  • The merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview
