3 Tests To Pass Through The Graduated Licensing Program In Vancouver, British Columbia

Getting your first-ever driving license is very exciting. Although the process of getting through is tough and unpleasant, the result of gaining the license is so fruitful. The GLP (Graduated Licensing program) started in 1998 in British Columbia to improve drivers' driving skills and reduce on-road mishaps. The Graduated licensing program in Vancouver, BC, prepares new drivers for the road test and for the busy roadways of Canada.

GLP will help you be a confident driver, allowing you to learn skills and techniques you might need to improve. But gaining GLP is not very easy. You need to pass through 3 tests, and earning that license may take quite a while.

· Obtain your Learner's license first.

The Learner's license can be legally obtained once you are 16 years of age. But till under 19 years of age, the consent sign of the parents or guardian is required on the form. Study and take upon practice knowledge tests to know your ability to pass the actual knowledge test. Once prepared, book your appointment for a knowledge test at the ICBC driving license office. Post the test; you must pass the Vision screening test as well.

· Attain the Novice Licence

You will be eligible for your first road test with a year of practice under a qualified instructor or with a road test training Vancouver supervisor. You need to book an appointment for the road test and need to pass the Class 7 road test to attain the Novice license. Ensure you have had enough practice at all times of the day and in weather conditions before taking the road test. The total time duration for the test would be around an hour or so.

The examiner would ask you to drive through a route to test your driving abilities. If lucky, you can pass and sit in one go, but if you fail the first time, you can book another appointment after 14 days paying the road test fee again. The retest waiting time would increase after the second and third chances.

· Getting the Full license

The last and final step would be to obtain the Full license. You can apply for the same after successfully driving with no prohibitions of 24 months. This is called the Class 5 road test. This is the second and final road test, and once you pass it, you will obtain the full license to drive in Canada. But this class 5 road test will be a bit more challenging than the class 7 test.

It showcases that the driver is safe in driving and can control the vehicle appropriately.

The examiner will examine you in all aspects, and again the test will be for around an hour or so. After the test, the examiner will debrief with you and immediately let you know if you have passed or failed the test. If you fail in your first attempt, try for another after waiting for 14 days.
