Alexa voice recognition for German users

Finally she's here! The voice recognition for Alexa. Exactly one year ago it was already announced to me in the app, because all settings already appeared at that time, but it was unlocked only this week. The Google Assistant brings a voice recognition already for some time also for German users.

How do I set up Alexa voice recognition?

In the Alexa App you can find the submenu "Registered voices" in the settings of the Alexa account. In the following you will start the recognition with the words "Alexa, learn my voice", followed by 10 example sentences which Alexa uses to verify your voice.

If you now create more profiles in the household profiles of the Alexa App, these profiles can also link your voice profile with Alexa. Then you can check the suitability of the voice recognition with the command "Alexa, who am I? If you have difficulties with the recognition, you can also go through the voice setup again.

Which functions are supported at the start?

  • Calls and messages with Alexa: Play back messages that are sent only to you and send messages only from you.
  • Daily Summary: When Alexa recognizes your voice, the daily summary skips stories and messages you've already heard.
  • Shopping: If you have activated a language code, you don't have to enter the language code every time you make a purchase.
  • Music: If you are a family member of Amazon Music Unlimited, Alexa will adjust the music playback based on the voice.

In a few weeks I will report how well this works and if there are even more features available. At first glance, I miss the listing of functions, for example, the retrieval of the respective personal calendar. At the moment the functions seem to be quite manageable. At the moment, seemingly personalizable routines tailored to the user, the use of additional Spotify accounts or similar are not yet possible.
