Lemongrass Essential Oil

Lemongrass essential oil has a refreshing lemony scent and is widely used in aromatherapy for beauty and wellness. Lemongrass is a long grass native to the islands of Southeast Asia that grows in tropical climes. It is used as a condiment in Indian, Thai, and Chinese cuisines, as well as tea.

Lemongrass essential oil is used to treat headaches, reduce inflammation, and improve digestion. The benefits of inhaling the oil's aroma or utilising it (infused with carrier oils, body oil, and hair & skin products) are reported to be numerous.

What is Lemongrass Essential Oil?

Lemongrass essential oil is produced from dried lemongrass using steam distillation. The scientific names for lemongrass are Cymbopogon citratus and Andropogon citratus. Myrcene, citronellal, geranyl acetate, nerol, geraniol, neral, limonene, and citral are the primary components of its essential oil.

Lemongrass has a similar scent to lemons, but it is gentler, sweeter, and significantly less sour. When fresh lemon isn't available or can't be utilised due to its strong flavour, this grass is employed as a flavouring agent in a variety of beverages (including tea), desserts, and other culinary creations. It's a common ingredient in Chinese and Thai cuisine. It grows and spreads as quickly as any other grass and sells for a reasonable price, making it a successful and common item in both organic and mainstream markets.
